Following on from Marmite I thought it would be interesting to look at other food from your home countries that are a little unusual.
I was thinking back to my childhood and my Grandfather used to give me bread and dripping...

Or fried Black Pudding

What about
Pease Pudding. It's difficult to find fresh Pease Pudding around where I'm living at them moment. When I go home to visit my parents etc it's great as all the supermarkets sell it fresh, none of this tinned crap. Hmm, I'm hungry for a Ham and Pease Pudding butty.

Hehe, Kyia, you made me hungry!
I also enjoy the so-called Ciorba de Burta (Tripe Soup) and I've not seen it somewhere else yet.
Hard to make, but it is widely available in restaurants here (lucky me):
Tripe soup
1 kg beef or veal stomach (tripe)
1 big garlic head
2 egg yolks
lovage, salt, pepper
500 gr vegetable soup (made out of 2 onions, 2 carrots, 2
parsnips)
100 ml vinegar
200 ml sour-cream
1 bell pepper (optional)
1 tomato (optional)
Boil the stomach in 5 l. of water with some beef bones to obtain a
tasty broth. Remove the foam from time to time. Wash the stomach, cut
it small pieces, throw away the fatty parts, clean the wrinkled skin
and scrape it with maize flour and vinegar. Leave it over the night in
cold water with 1 spoon of dicarbonate. Boil it the next day in the
same broth. Scrap the carrots, onions, parsnips. After 3 hours, remove
the stomach from fire and cut it julienne. Chop the stomach, vegetables
and put all on fire with vinegar for another hour. Boil until water is
evaporated by half.
Mince the garlic with salt, yolks, sour-cream and a bit of vegetable
soup (remember? those 2 of each vegetables, see ingredients) and pour
over the boiling stomach. Add pepper, freshly chopped lovage. Eat it
hot with chilies or olives, garlic sauce, vinegar, sour-cream etc.
And also this green stuff is very good, eggplant salad. I usually have this every other week or so. And I've only seen it in an arab restaurant when I was in the US. Many western people doesn't seem know about it:

Had all the scandinavian's at Games Workshop Europe laughing as I tried one. I think I prefered the Snus....

Being bavarian, I have to add the classic Weißwurst.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weisswurst
I like Salmiakki stuff...a finnish customer of mine sent me a bottle of a salmiakki liquor for new year's eve that is VERY tasty. Also I liked the sweets with the hot filling.
The weirdest food I ate in the last years is the turkish tavuk gögsü, a sweet pudding made with chicken breast meat...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tavuk_g%C3%B6%C4%9Fs%C3%BC
Does not taste like chicken at all
