my computer is broken.

Post by Narshtashkia » 24 Dec 2006 13:28

Sorry that I havent been online for about 2 months so far. but my computer is broken. and since I still have an AGP computer it will cost me to much for a PCI one. And tbh I am not so sure if it is my Graphics card that is broken. I can buy an AGP graphics card but it will cost me 130 Euros. While I might get a super good computer for 300 Euros. So now I am gonna safe some money to get me a new computer.

Do not blame your pc since there is nothing wrong with it :)

Follow these steps ON EVERY letter and what was once broken will be fixed:

check your GPU cooler and check your monitor cable

clean the GPU fan and take out your videocard some contactspray on the contacts and put it back in

hope this will help had the same prob with my ti4800 took it out put on a new zallman fan spit on the contacts and problem solved ! (had a celeron that needed the spit treatment every day so don't ask...damn slot 1 crap ...aah those were the times hehe) hope this will help.

if this doesn'`t help try UNDERCLOCKING your Videocard ..i know it`s weird but i have had pc`s where this helped till they got a new videocard

btw what kind of card do you have now ? tell me and i`ll see if i can find you something identical in performance for a good price somewhere

I got an Ati Radeon 9800 PRO 128Mb AGP. My computer goes a little better now. It happens alot less now. but I might try that contact spray.

well i think it's a heat issue actually so putting on a new cooler or underclocking would be the best thing to do ..but if you need a new card for the time being till you get a new pc you could get a 9600 they are cheap and are close to the performance of a 9800

a Club 3D radeon 9600 (256mb) costs 59 euro over here >> http://www.alternate.nl/html/shop/produ ... Level3=ATI&

i would just buy one of those if nothing else works ..and save some money for a while and build a good new system later .

just my 2 cents

b.t.w. I do have one of my older PC's running WoW with the same card and it runs just fine , just make sure you have enough ram

good luck

p.s. Whatever you do don`t buy the 9200 series for ATI or any of the FX5000 series from Nvidia , just a waste of money

thanks for the advice and about that fx5000+ i had bought one right before i bought the ati radeon 9800. and i really saw the big difference between those 2. my computer started to freak out when i was playing the first neverwinter nights with V-sync on. so i guess i broke it myself.
