Mounts

[blue="Zarhym";"http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/threa ... pageNo=1#0"]In the next major content patch, we intend to adjust mount requirements to further improve the leveling experience in World of Warcraft. In addition, cast times for summoning all mounts will be reduced to 1.5 seconds, down from 3 seconds. The following is a breakdown of the upcoming cost and level requirement changes we are making for each riding skill.

  • Apprentice Riding (Skill 75)
    • 60% land mount speed
    • Requires level 20
    • Cost: 4 gold
    • Mount cost: 1 gold
    • Mail will be sent to players at level 20 guiding them to the riding trainer
  • Journeyman Riding (Skill 150)
    • 100% land mount speed
    • Requires level 40
    • Cost: 50 gold
    • Mount cost: 10 gold
    • Mail will be sent to players at level 40 guiding them back to the riding trainer
  • Expert Riding (Skill 225)
    • 150% flying mount speed; 60% land mount speed
    • Requires level 60
    • Cost: 600 gold (faction discounts now apply)
    • Mount Cost: 50 gold
    • Can now be learned in Honor Hold (Alliance) or Thrallmar (Horde)
  • Artisan Riding (Skill 300)
    • 280% flying mount speed; 100% land mount speed
    • Requires level 70
    • Cost: 5,000 gold (faction discounts now apply)
    • Mount Cost: 100 gold

Some quite large changes in there...

Thats a fairly major overhaul but much needed I guess as the leveling speed has increased quite a bit.

hmm... so I assume the regular "slow flying mounts" be upgraded to them? Either way I never found it very logical that any flying mounts were slower than the land mounts.

I'm cross... especially seeing as last week I bought my 3rd epic flyer for an alt and levelled another 65-68 without a flyer... But hey ho :)

I actually edited that part out of my post - I thought the epic flight training was also made cheaper, but only a little by faction discounts :)

It depends how you look at it Xu. At first i found it strange too, but after blizz gave their explanation it makes sense.

--> The reason for the first flying mount. Is to give a chance to fly when needed. Here they wanted that you kept using your ground mount. Thats also the reason why the price to get these mounts + flying is rather cheap. When selling these they want to create a big differents between epic and normal. Normal has a advantage but comes with a disadvantage. Epic, comes only with a big advantage but costs alot!

they did explain it way beter than me, will try to find the blue post!

Well, I understand the reasoning, but I just don't find it "logical" :D

Then again, I don't suppose I should try to make sense of everything in WoW :)
