It's the Gnomeregan / Echo Isles pre-expansion events that have started.

The next patch before the expansion will bring the changes to classes, talents, skills and the like that have been previewed. The changes to existing stuff, that is. It's up on the PTR now.

I heard a rumour that yet ANOTHER patch is planned pre-Cataclysm that will add the new race/class combos.
