He was also an inspiring human being full of wisdom, and a good person in general. For me that is more important, since I never owned anything from Apple, and some of their products I despise.
It's a shame they never dominated the PC marked since early days. I used a Macintosh Plus ED II, or something like that, and loved it. After that I went back to command line DOS. More fun for a tweaker like me, but in no case 'better'.

Very sad someone died. Also cancer is awefull.. so many broken hearths and families =((

I don't mean it rude in advance, but so many people make a thing out of it.. and well next picture says enough.

It's all a matter of scope. Famous people are in the scope of many other people's attention, so if they die, a subset of those many are sad. Non-famous people are only in the scope of few people, so only a subset of those few cry when they die. Of course, if a whole family or village dies, and they have no outside ties, no one dies (or even notices, for some time).

Yeah you're right. His death is mega over hyped. He may have been a visionary in many ways, but not a philanthropist like Bill Gates.

Steve was evil in some ways, and I'm not so sure the technological achievements would have been much different without him. He was just good in making people want it. Tablets, mp3 players and smartphones were nothing new, and Apples devices are nothing special compared to the rest, but he (and his impressive marketing team of course) somehow managed to make people spend every last penny they had on it. Crazy achievement, I'm not so sure that should be applauded. There's a comic that displays it well here: http://theoatmeal.com/comics/apple
Nonetheless he was a wise man, he worked hard to get where he was in the end. I wonder if anyone would care if Steve Balmer from Microsoft passed away, that dickhead said stuff like 'If you don't fire 10% of your staff every year, you're not a good company'. Man, do I hate that guy.

Steve Jobs realized that technology alone doesn't cut it, the technology must be packaged into something that works well within its scope, is easy to use for normal people and looks good, even if that comes at the cost of raw power, specs, or a higher price. That's something companies like Microsoft didn't get (look at their tablet PC attempts from way way before the iPad, or their Windows Phone attempts before the iPhone).
I probably don't get that completely either since I am a technologist, not a common standard normal consumer... :)

Rules of fame and death I guess, even murderers get more media.

Maybe they just got the full package. Apparently it is quite difficult to create something user friendly, nice looking, make everyone want it, make it actually work fine, bring it out on the right moment, have the money to invest and create the product and enslave enough Chinese people to make it cheap for you.

Only a few dozen companies can do such a thing, Apples aggression won from the rest, now without Steve we might witness what other companies do to create similar products. Although I doubt Apple lost its tricks...
