The 28th Chaos Communication Congress just finished, and there were once again many cool talks:

http://events.ccc.de/congress/2011/wiki/Main_Page

I've not watched even half of them yet, but here a selection of the coolest ones:

http://events.ccc.de/congress/2011/Fahr ... 28.en.html Kinect Fusion
http://events.ccc.de/congress/2011/Fahr ... 61.en.html Hacking Prisons
http://events.ccc.de/congress/2011/Fahr ... 00.en.html How governments have tried to block Tor
http://events.ccc.de/congress/2011/Fahr ... 30.en.html BlackOps of TCP/IP 2011 (Random cool Stuff)
http://events.ccc.de/congress/2011/Fahr ... 66.en.html 802.11 Packets in Packets

Other good ones (but some of them are more special interest :):

http://events.ccc.de/congress/2011/Fahr ... 80.en.html Killing web applications with hash collisions
http://events.ccc.de/congress/2011/Fahr ... 13.en.html History of Names
http://events.ccc.de/congress/2011/Fahr ... 40.en.html Timing Attacks

Videos can be gotten from here:
http://events.ccc.de/congress/2011/wiki/Documentation

I'll probably add more pointers if I find an other cool talk :)

This one was great, but it's in german, so probably even more incomprehensible for most :)

http://events.ccc.de/congress/2011/Fahr ... 01.en.html
http://ftp.ccc.de/congress/28C3/mp4-h26 ... p4.torrent

It's a two hour panel discussion between members of the CCC about the german "Staats Trojaner", a remote forensics software. And that software violates the german constitution, and is still used, and on top of that was written by morons... Two hours of watching hackers make fun of bad programmers and politicians... it's great :)

The thing is decision makers dont have the techincal knowlege to make the right choice on anything to do with software or the internet, they rely on nerdy advisiors who were quite obviously bullied at school
