I think it's a tech thing.

As I mentioned above, my current Watch is a Citizen Skyhawk JY0020-64E, It was really affordable, about 420 Euros (+ taxes/import fees) from Amazon. It really is an excellent Watch, with radio control, solar power supply, two time zones, two alerts, and so on. I changed the bracelet to a Nylon one that's much lighter than the steel one that it came with.

Sometimes I regret that since I want it for myself... It's the only skeleton watch I've found so far that doesn't look like an ornament or a piece of scrap metal. It's simply a small, self sustaining machine with a tiny little mechanical heart that keeps time.

But those Nixie tubes are amazing. I used to work in a store that sold a bedside clock version. I was fairly expensive at the time and I was but a lowly student, but I used to love it, what put me off was the sheer number of them that were returned with faults or just stopped working after a couple of months.

I still use the same as mentioned earlier in this thread: A Citizen Skyhawk JY0020-64E and a Casio G-Shock GW-M5600. I also have a bunch of older watches that I don't regularily wear, like a Tissot T-Touch, one of the first models, with touch screen, compas, altimeter, barometer, ...
