A rocket that survives engine failure... impressive.

Very cool, they got real life proof that their system actually works. And it's "only" rocket science, so can't be too hard to figure that out beforehand, right? :)

Talking about space, today at 12 GMT Felix Baumgartner is going up in his balloon to jump down from 36km and break the sound barrier.

Next try tomorrow maybe.

Did u know, that SpaceX is the first "Not-government-involved" institution, which produces rockets for commercial use?

They started a new aera and made rockets to be available for almost everyone ( with enough money ofc ;) )

Well the video is quite impressive, an yeah more impressive that it survived the anormaly...

Well i just got a suggestion what could have happend... As we know, that hydrogen got a lower temperature to get liquid, oxygen could have condensed on the tank surface and frozen to ice... at launch, it could have break appart and led to the exhaust stream... Resulting in that blow off...

Or maybe it was just a short combustion instability... Well you have to know... these rockets work with 4500000 horse power... So it seems quite normal at these energies beeing released, that an instability could possibly look like that... But we well see :)

Keep me updated pls :) I am interested :D

I find it irritating that people measure the power of Rockets in quantities of Horse Powers. Even 4.5e6 horses would not get you into orbit. Although, maybe if you pile them...

Why anything is measured in HP is beyond me. I mean. 10 horses aren't gonna run 10 times faster, however a car with 10 times as much HP does go faster. It's like, you can't make a baby in 1 month if you use 9 women.
Watt is better if you ask me. 746 to be precise.
That makes it 3357 megawatt. But since we're not really talking about electricity when you are thrusting a rocket into space with fire, you should probably use joules or some other form of measurement for raw force to make it sound cooler.

The nuclear energy you could get from splitting the atoms in a horse would also most likely be enough to get a rocket into space. A pony would do.
