I think the item customization (or "transmogrification") is an interesting addition.
Basically you can make any item you're wearing look like any other item you have somewhere, in your bags or bank.
Luckily I saved my T0.5 set on mage (also have a complete Twill set!) Since T0.5 it's no longer obtainable it's rather rare to be able to look like it.
It will have some downsides, you can't really see what people are wearing, you'll have to inspect and then judge by the name what item it is.. it's a hassle and will also require addons in pvp to see how dangerous your opponent is.
It's also a nice mechanic to get players to go back to old raid dungeons to get some old gear back, it will give people something extra to do and I'm sure it will help keeping players online and prevent bored players from leaving.

I loved the Naxx set, but lack the helmet... naxx 25 runs anyone?

From what they were saying it only works on items with stats, so the Twill set wouldnt work, which sucks.

It's nice that I can wear Crimson Felt Hat again though!

Well I know Ailisha will be running around in full T2 looking gear and occassionally swapping it for the originals as the set binuses are still very very good.

Already gear runs starting up at old raids.
