Amusing...

But the web adds are not surprising, google and many other add provider do this based on the content of a page.

An ex MOD colleague once told me that one of Russia's many "interesting" millitarty tactics was the use of dogs in the second world war.

Russin dogs were trained to take mines and place them beneath German tanks, a stealth approach if you will. The programme of training was very succesfull, when it came to field testing on the battlefield...it went horribly wrong.

Why you may ask...well the russian millitary did not have German tanks to practicse on, only Russian tanks :)

So when on the battlefield, lassie took the mine to Ivan instead of Schmidt :)

I lol'd when i was told that one.

ps..the prgramme did not last long for obvious reasons.

That's right, heard about that too. But it was a bit different.

They trained the dogs by starving them, strapping explosives on them and then putting food under tanks (well, in training this were Russian tanks or captured German tanks).

But like Achi said, on the battlefield, the dogs would run to any old tank that was close by, be that German or Russian. The problem was that a lot of dogs were just shot by Germans before they even got to the German tanks, so mostly they went to hide under Russian tanks.
