The next game in the Transformers franchise won’t be based off a movie, which means it just might have the potential to be good. In development at High Moon, developers behind The Bourne Conspiracy and Darkwatch, Transformers: War for Cybertron takes the game back to to their home planet of Cybertron where a civil war between the Autobots and Decepticons is raging harder than ever.

“For the first time, Hasbro is working with Activision to drive the TRANSFORMERS fiction forward into new story arcs, demonstrating pivotal moments in Transformers history that defined who they are,” said Aaron Archer, Senior Design Director, Hasbro. “This remarkable video game helps us to tell a critical event in TRANSFORMERS lore that will be used as canon for future storylines in a way we could have only dreamed of a few years ago. It is a testament to the success of the TRANSFORMERS brand and a key element to the story we look forward to telling in 2010 and beyond.”

Two campaigns will be available in the game; one for the Autobots, another for the Decepticons — one group to save the planet, the other to control it. Team-based online co-op and online multiplayer game modes are one of the big features of War for Cybertron.

The game hits PS3, 360, PC, Wii and DS in 2010. No word on any set time frame, though. We just want gameplay videos, but we’ll have to just show you the video we’ve shown you before already. If you don’t want to see that, there’s a big render of Cybertron in the gallery.

Its bound to be terrible, as every single game thats made for Consoles is ported that way to the PC. There will be a lack of units/controls/ui. Look what they did with the Supreme Commander franchise (AKA Total Annihilation. It was fantastic as Supreme Commander and the expansion Forged Alliance, then they bring out Supreme Commander 2 and everyone thinks more of the same but better, they were sorely mistaken. The reason being they made it for consoles and that made it suck. It was totally Supreme Failure.

Yup, thats true.... look at Halo, Alan Wake nothing like how they were originally due to console limitations.

At least they keep their hands off MMO's... for now... :wink:

Final Fantasy XI is on the consoles, and the controls for the PC original allowed you to use Playstation controllers if you had the slot for it.

I know what Blizzards new MMORPG is that the have in secret development, its WoW for consoles, we will get the dumbed down game for Cataclysm :P

EVE Online is getting in on the consol action with DUST 514, though that might just work for that game universe.

Mabe the dumming down for Cata is part of the move towards the console kids getting wow... :cry:
