Interface Addons

Post by Angmar » 08 May 2007 17:00

I'm looking for a nice addon that changes the interface of the bars where the items are but also the health/mana-meter.
I see plenty online, but i have no experience with any.

What addon do you use and what can (or can't) you recommend?

For player/Party/raid I use X-perl, find it moste usefull for the most of things. You have some nice featurs that I use a lot, like buff checks, lots of options in healt/mana/faction/xp(for alt's ofc). You can also scale/move everything very easy, like Player window, party window, pets, buffs etc. etc. You also have a lot of options for party hp/mp.And some graphic changes, like 3D portrait's and so on. I think it looks nice as default tho, and I feel it makes your screen more systematic (if you know what I mean) But I must say you do have a lot of options with this one. So you may find it a litle hard to use in the beginning. At least I did, but if you take your time, its fairly easy.

For bars I use Bongos bars, they have a easy setup menu, and all the features you need from a bar addon. Only thing i miss is the option to deside how many buttons, scaleing and vertical/horizontal view change for each bar. You can prolly do this aswell, just havent seen it or have had any use for it really since the buttons that you use can easly be hidden, and doesnt interfere with icon changes etc.
I also have a very nice key-binding option, that makes key binding quick and easy. And it automaticly locks all you buttons when you are in combat! Thats what made me fall in love with it (Im sure other addons have it too), and I gues the most of us have done the fun thing and pulled a hotkey out of your bar when you really need it >.< You can ofc click the option lock bars, or lock with keybinding, so you have to hold down shift to move icons. The shift-move thing also works when you are in combat, so you can change icons i cb if needed.

Hope this is usefull, just /w me if you need some help seting stuff up etc =)

Oh, and sorry for the long post :o
Whats the point of life when you cant do what you want =)

I've got the same set as Naruto and can highly recommend them both. As he said, lots of config options so set aside an hour or 2 just to experiment - well worth the effort.

I try to use as less addons as possible to prevent chaos during patchdays so my primary is Xperl, you can start with just using the normal Perl classic since it's a bit more user friendly and switch to Xperl later which has some nifty changes compared to Perl classic but if you want to save the fuzz just go with xperl.

Bongos I dunno, find the standard bars the best there is still but then again I bind almost everything so really doesn't matter to me :)[/url]

Put bongos into edit mode. Right click on the bar...

Been using Xperl for some time, and am now trying out Bongos. Is there a way to make the pet bar stay behind my bags when I open them?
