Derren brown uses 'mis-direction' in exactly the same way that guy is using it, he just combines with several other techniques. ( Like memory tricks etc).

His last stunt was a classic example of this. One of the video clips shown was that of him flipping a coin heads up 10 times.. without any other information you take this at face value.

The way he achieved it ( shown later in the show) was by filming straight for 9 hours and resetting the camera each time the 10 flips didn't work. Statistically ( ie eventually) you'll film 10 head face flips.

The clever bit about Derren Brown is he tells you about how the easy stuff works and leaves out enough to keep you wondering.
